Its a welcoming community that creates space to think hard about how your writing can be a tool for personal growth and healing.

Great teachers help you find your own truths. They guide you, rather than lecture. They share their journey and invite you to make your own. The very best are kind. Ana Marie Cox has all these qualities, and more.

Introducing

The Slow Burn Workshop

Don’t burn out, burn slow.

Saturdays, 1 PM ET / 12 PM CT, May 3–24

I’ve been a working writer for nearly 30 years. I’ve published a lot, and I’ve had stretches where I didn’t publish at all. Through all the twists and upheavals of my life, writing has never left me — and I’ve never left writing. It sustains me, helps me survive, and helps me heal. I have a decades-long relationship with my writing. It’s not always consistent, but it is constant.

I want to help you build the same thing: a writing practice that lasts, without the pressure of perfection or productivity culture. No word counts, no homework, no externally imposed goals. We’ll meet live each week, and I’ll share playful exercises to try between sessions — but this is about finding your own rhythm, not following rules.

Because here’s what I believe: Writing is not just a task to cross off your list. Writing can be a place of refuge, a way to move through chaos, and a practice that carries you through life’s hardest seasons. Even when the world feels unsteady, you can still return to the page.

Over four weeks of Saturday sessions in May, we’ll explore pacing, momentum, and how to trick your brain into finding joy in writing — even in the worst ruts. There are videos and weekly emails to help you keep up even if you miss a class. You’ll build a relationship to writing that fosters resilience and curiosity, not burnout.

And because writing isn’t something you figure out in just a month, you’ll also have monthly gatherings through August, plus a private Discord community to stay connected.

Sliding scale pricing + scholarships available — choose the tier that fits your needs.

There’s the story you tell yourself, the story the world tells you, and the story you tell the world. That’s your third story.
